Chapter 8

1 THEN Solomon assembled all the tribes of Israel, all the heads of the tribes, and the chiefs of the fathers, to him in Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.

2 And all the men of Israel assembled themselves to King Solomon at the feast in the month of the harvest, which is the seventh month.

3 And all the tribes of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD.

4 And they brought it up to the temple of the LORD, and brought the tabernacle of the congregation and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, and the priests and the Levites of Israel went up with them.

5 And King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel that were assembled to him were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen that could not be counted or numbered for multitude.

6 And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place, into the temple, to the inner house, the Holy of Holies, under the wings of the cherubim.

7 For the cherubim spread forth their wings over the holy place, and the cherubim covered the ark and its staves above.

8 And the staves were so long that the ends of them were seen from the holy place before the inner house, but they were not seen outside; and there they are to this day.

9 There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets of stone, which Moses had put there at Horeb when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel when they came out of the land of Egypt.

10 And when the priests came out of the holy place, a cloud filled the house of the LORD,

11 So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD.

12 Then Solomon said, O LORD, thou hast said that thou wouldst dwell in the thick darkness.

13 And I have surely built thee a house to dwell in, a settled place for thee to abide in for ever.

14 Then the king turned his face about and blessed all the congregation of Israel; and all the congregation of Israel stood;

15 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to David my father, and has with his hands fulfilled his promise, saying,

16 Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house, that my name might be therein; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.

17 And it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.

18 But the LORD said to David my father, Whereas it was in your heart to build a house to my name, you did well that it was in your heart.

19 Nevertheless you shall not build the house to my name; but your son who shall come forth out of your loins, he shall build the house to my name.

20 Now the LORD has performed the word that he spoke, and I have risen up in the place of David my father and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built a house to the name of the LORD God of Israel.

21 And I have set there the ark of the covenant of the LORD, which he made with our fathers when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

22 And Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven and prayed;

23 And he said, O LORD God of Israel, there is no one like thee in heaven above or on earth beneath, who keepeth covenant and mercy with thy servants who walk before thee in truth with all their heart and with all their soul;

24 Who hast kept with thy servant David my father what thou didst promise him; thou didst speak with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thy hand, as it is this day.

25 Therefore, now, O LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father what thou didst promise him, saying, There shall not fail you a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; if only your sons take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth as you have walked before me.

26 And now, O LORD God of Israel, let thy word be confirmed, which thou hast sworn to thy servant David my father.

27 But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have built?

28 But turn toward the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken to the supplication and to the prayer which thy servant prays before thee this day;

29 That thine eyes may be open upon this house day and night, even toward this place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there; that thou mayest hearken to the prayer which thy servant prays before thee for this place.

30 And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant and of thy people Israel, when they pray before thee in this place; and hear thou, O our God, from thy dwelling place in heaven, and forgive.

31 If any man sins against his neighbor and an oath be laid upon him to cause him to swear and he comes and swears before thine altar in this house;

32 Then hear thou in heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, condemning the wicked, and bring his transgressions upon his head, and vindicating the righteous to reward him according to his innocence.

33 When thy people Israel are defeated in the battle before the enemy because they have sinned before thee, and shall turn again to thee and confess thy name and pray and make supplication to thee in this house;

34 Then hear thou in heaven and forgive the sin of thy servants and of thy people Israel, and bring them back to the land which thou gavest to their fathers.

35 When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against thee; and they shall come and pray in this place and confess thy name and turn from their sins, when thou dost afflict them;

36 Then hear thou in heaven and forgive the sins of thy servants and of thy people Israel, when thou teach them the good way wherein they should walk, and give thy rain upon the land which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance.

37 And when there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence, blasting, mildew, locust, or when there are caterpillars; or when their enemy besieges them in one of their cities; whatsoever sickness, or whatsoever plague may be;

38 Whatsoever prayer and whatsoever supplication be made by any man or by all thy people Israel, who shall know every man the trouble of his own heart, and shall spread forth his hands before thee in this house;

39 Then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest (for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men);

40 That they may reverence thee all the days that they live on the face of the land which thou gavest to their fathers.

41 Moreover concerning a stranger who is not of thy people Israel, but comes from a far country for thy name's sake

42 (When they shall hear of thy great name and of thy strong hand and of thy stretched out arm), when he shall come before thee and pray in this house;

43 Hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calls to thee for; that all the peoples of the earth may know thy name, to worship thee, as do thy people Israel; and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by thy name.

44 When thy people go out to battle against their enemies, by whatever way thou shalt send them, and shall pray to the LORD toward the city which thou hast chosen and toward the house that I have built for thy name;

45 Then hear thou in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.

46 When they sin against thee (for there is no man who does not sin), and thou be angry with them and deliver them to the enemy so that they carry them away captives to the land of their enemies, far or near;

47 Yet if they shall reckon it in their heart in the land to which they have been carried captives, and repent and make supplication to thee in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness;

48 And so return to thee with all their heart and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies who carried them away captive, and pray to thee according to the religion of their own land, which thou gavest to their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen and the house which I have built for thy name;

49 Then hear thou in heaven, thy dwelling place, their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause,

50 And forgive thy people who have sinned against thee and all their transgressions wherein they have transgressed against thee, and give them compassion in the presence of those who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them;

51 For they are thy people and thine inheritance, whom thou didst bring forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron;

52 That thine eves may be open to the supplication of thy servants and to the supplication of thy people Israel, to hearken to them in all that they call for unto thee.

53 For thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou didst speak through Moses thy servant, when thou didst bring our fathers out of Egypt, O LORD God.

54 And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished praying all this prayer and supplication unto the LORD God, he arose from before the altar of the LORD, from kneeling with his hands spread up to heaven.

55 And he stood and blessed all the congregation of Israel with a loud voice, saying,

56 Blessed be the LORD God, who has given rest to his people Israel, according to all that he promised; there has not failed one word of all his good promises, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.

57 The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our fathers; let him not leave us nor forsake us;

58 That he may incline our heart unto him, to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, which he commanded our fathers.

59 And let these my words wherewith I have made supplication before the LORD be near to the LORD our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant and the cause of his people Israel day by day;

60 That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God and that there is none else.

61 Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his ways and to keep his commandments, his covenant, his judgments, and his laws, as at this day.

62 And the king and all Israel with him offered sacrifice before the LORD.

63 And Solomon offered a sacrifice of peace offerings before the LORD, twenty-two thousand oxen and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated the house of the LORD.

64 The same day the king consecrated the interior of the court that was before the house of the LORD; for there he offered burnt offerings and meal offerings and the fat of the peace offerings; because the bronze altar that was before the LORD was too little to receive the burnt offerings and the meal offerings and the fat of the peace offerings.

65 And Solomon made a feast on that day, and all Israel with him, a great congregation, from the entrance of Hamath to the entrance of the river of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.

66 On the eighth day the people sent a delegation and blessed the king, and went to their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that the LORD had done for David his servant and for Israel his people.

2 Und376 es versammelten sich6950 zum Könige4428 Salomo8010 alle Männer in Israel3478 im Monden3391 Ethanim388, am Fest2282, das ist der siebente7637 Mond.

3 Und3548 da alle Ältesten2205 Israels3478 kamen935, huben die Priester die Lade727 des HErrn auf5375.

4 Und3068 brachten5927 sie727 hinauf5927, dazu die Hütte168 des Stifts4150 und3548 alles Gerät3627 des Heiligtums6944, das in der Hütte168 war. Das taten die Priester und Leviten3881.

5 Und2076 der König4428 Salomo8010 und die ganze Gemeine Israels3478, die zu ihm sich3259 versammelt hatte, gingen mit ihm vor6440 der Lade727 her und opferten Schafe6629 und Rinder1241, so viel7230, daß man‘s nicht zählen5608 noch rechnen konnte4487.

6 Also brachten935 die Priester3548 die Lade727 des Bundes1285 des HErrn3068 an ihren Ort4725, in den Chor1687 des Hauses1004, in das Allerheiligste6944, unter die Flügel3671 der Cherubim3742.

7 Denn die Cherubim3742 breiteten6566 die Flügel3671 aus an4605 dem Ort4725, da die Lade727 stund, und bedeckten5526 die Lade727 und ihre Stangen905 von oben her.

8 Und die Stangen905 waren so lang748, daß ihre Knäufe7218 gesehen7200 wurden in dem Heiligtum6944 vor2351 dem Chor1687, aber außen wurden sie905 nicht gesehen7200; und waren daselbst bis auf6440 diesen Tag3117.

9 Und war nichts in der Lade727 denn nur7535 die zwo steinernen68 Tafeln3871 Moses4872, die er daselbst ließ3240 in Horeb2722, da der HErr3068 mit den Kindern1121 Israel3478 einen Bund machte3772, da sie8147 aus3318 Ägyptenland776 gezogen waren.

10 Da aber die Priester3548 aus3318 dem Heiligtum6944 gingen, erfüllete eine Wolke6051 das Haus1004 des HErrn3068,

11 daß die Priester nicht konnten3201 stehen5975 und3548 Amts pflegen8334 vor6440 der Wolke6051. Denn die Herrlichkeit3519 des HErrn3068 erfüllete das Haus1004 des HErrn3068.

12 Da sprach559 Salomo8010: Der HErr3068 hat559 geredet, er wolle im Dunkel6205 wohnen7931.

13 Ich habe zwar ein Haus1004 gebauet, dir zur Wohnung2073, einen Sitz4349, daß du ewiglich5769 da wohnest3427.

14 Und5975 der König4428 wandte5437 sein Angesicht6440 und segnete1288 die ganze Gemeine Israels3478; und die ganze Gemeine Israels3478 stund.

15 Und4390 er sprach559: Gelobet sei1288 der HErr3068, der GOtt430 Israels3478, der durch seinen Mund6310 meinem Vater1 David1732 geredet und durch seine Hand3027 erfüllet hat1696 und gesagt559:

16 Von dem Tage3117 an, da ich mein Volk5971 Israel3478 aus3318 Ägypten4714 führete, habe977 ich nie keine Stadt5892 erwählet unter irgend einem Stamm7626 Israels, daß mir ein Haus1004 gebauet würde, daß mein Name8034 da wäre; David1732 aber habe977 ich erwählet, daß er1129 über mein Volk5971 Israel sein sollte.

17 Und mein Vater1 David1732 hatte es zwar im Sinn3824, daß er1129 ein Haus1004 bauete dem Namen8034 des HErrn3068, des Gottes430 Israels3478;

18 aber der HErr3068 sprach559 zu meinem Vater1 David1732: Daß834 du im Sinn3824 hast, meinem Namen8034 ein Haus1004 zu bauen1129, hast du wohl2895 getan, daß du solches vornahmest;

19 doch7535 du sollst nicht das Haus1004 bauen1129, sondern dein Sohn1121, der aus deinen Lenden2504 kommen3318 wird, der soll meinem Namen8034 ein Haus1004 bauen1129.

20 Und der HErr3068 hat1696 sein Wort1697 bestätiget, das er1129 geredet hat1696. Denn ich bin aufkommen an meines Vaters1 Davids1732 statt und sitze3427 auf6965 dem Stuhl3678 Israels3478, wie der HErr3068 geredet hat; und habe6965 gebauet ein Haus1004 dem Namen8034 des HErrn3068, des Gottes430 Israels3478.

21 Und habe7760 daselbst eine Stätte4725 zugerichtet der Lade727, darin der Bund1285 des HErrn3068 ist, den er gemacht3772 hat mit unsern Vätern1, da er sie aus3318 Ägyptenland776 führete.

22 Und Salomo8010 trat5975 vor6440 den Altar4196 des HErrn3068 gegen der ganzen Gemeine Israels3478 und breitete6566 seine Hände3709 aus gen Himmel8064.

23 Und sprach559: HErr3068, GOtt430 Israels3478, es ist kein GOtt430, weder droben4605 im Himmel8064 noch unten auf6440 Erden776, dir gleich, der du hältst8104 den Bund1285 und Barmherzigkeit2617 deinen Knechten5650, die vor dir wandeln1980 von ganzem Herzen3820:

24 der du hast1696 gehalten8104 deinem Knechte5650, meinem Vater1 David1732, was du ihm geredet hast1696. Mit deinem Munde6310 hast4390 du es geredet und mit deiner Hand3027 hast du es erfüllet, wie es stehet an diesem Tage3117.

25 Nun, HErr3068, GOtt430 Israels3478, halte8104 deinem Knechte5650, meinem Vater1 David1732, was du ihm geredet hast1980 und7535 gesagt1696: Es soll3772 dir nicht gebrechen an einem Manne376 vor mir6440 der da sitze3427 auf6440 dem Stuhl3678 Israels3478, so doch, daß deine Kinder1121 ihren Weg1870 bewahren8104, daß sie559 vor mir6440 wandeln3212, wie du vor mir gewandelt hast.

26 Nun, GOtt430 Israels3478, laß deine Worte1697 wahr werden539, die du deinem Knechte5650, meinem Vater1 David1732, geredet hast1696.

27 Denn meinest du auch637, daß GOtt430 auf Erden776 wohne3427? Siehe, der Himmel8064 und1129 aller Himmel8064 Himmel8064 mögen dich nicht versorgen3557. Wie sollte es denn dies Haus1004 tun, das ich gebauet habe?

28 Wende6437 dich aber zum Gebet8605 deines Knechts und5650 zu8085 seinem Flehen8467, HErr3068, mein GOtt430, auf6440 daß du hörest das Lob7440 und Gebet8605, das dein Knecht5650 heute3117 vor dir tut6419,

29 daß deine Augen5869 offen stehen6605 über dies Haus1004 Nacht3915 und Tag3117, über die8034 Stätte4725, davon du gesagt559 hast8085: Mein Name soll da sein. Du wollest hören das Gebet8605, das dein Knecht5650 an dieser Stätte4725 tut6419,

30 und5650 wollest erhören8085 das Flehen8467 deines Knechts und deines Volks5971 Israel3478, das sie4725 hie tun6419 werden8085 an dieser Stätte4725 deiner Wohnung3427, im Himmel8064, und wenn du8085 es hörest, gnädig sein5545.

31 Wenn jemand wider seinen7453 Nächsten sündiget und nimmt des einen Eid423 auf5375 sich2398, damit er376 sich verpflichtet, und der Eid423 kommt935 vor6440 deinen Altar4196 in diesem Hause1004,

32 so wollest du hören im Himmel8064 und5414 Recht8199 schaffen deinen Knechten5650, den GOttlosen7563 zu8085 verdammen7561 und seinen Weg1870 auf seinen Kopf7218 bringen und den Gerechten6663 recht zu6213 sprechen6662, ihm zu geben5414 nach seiner Gerechtigkeit6666.

33 Wenn dein Volk5971 Israel3478 vor6440 seinen Feinden341 geschlagen5062 wird2603, weil sie an dir gesündiget haben, und bekehren7725 sich2398 zu dir, und bekennen3034 deinen Namen8034 und beten6419 und flehen zu dir, in diesem Hause1004,

34 so wollest du hören im Himmel8064 und der Sünde2403 deines Volks5971 Israel3478 gnädig sein5545 und sie wiederbringen7725 ins Land127, das du ihren Vätern1 gegeben5414 hast8085.

35 Wenn der Himmel8064 verschlossen6113 wird, daß nicht3034 regnet4306, weil sie an dir gesündiget haben, und werden7725 beten6419 an diesem Ort4725 und deinen Namen8034 bekennen und sich2398 von ihren Sünden2403 bekehren, weil du sie drängest6031,

36 so wollest du hören im Himmel8064 und gnädig sein5545 der Sünde2403 deiner Knechte5650 und deines Volks5971 Israel3478, daß du ihnen den guten2896 Weg1870 weisest3384, darinnen sie5414 wandeln3212, und lassest regnen4306 auf das Land776, das du deinem Volk5971 zum Erbe5159 gegeben5414 hast8085.

37 Wenn eine Teurung, oder Pestilenz1698, oder Dürre3420, oder Brand7711, oder Heuschrecken697, oder Raupen2625 im Lande776 sein werden, oder sein Feind341 im Lande776 seine Tore8179 belagert6887, oder irgend eine Plage5061 oder Krankheit4245:

38 wer dann bittet8605 und flehet, es seien sonst Menschen120 oder dein Volk5971 Israel3478, die da gewahr3045 werden ihrer Plage5061, ein376 jeglicher in seinem Herzen3824, und breitet6566 seine Hände3709 aus zu diesem Hause1004,

39 so wollest du hören im Himmel8064, in dem1870 Sitz4349, da du wohnest3427, und6213 gnädig sein5545 und schaffen, daß du gebest einem jeglichen376, wie3045 er5414 gewandelt hat8085, wie du sein Herz3824 erkennest3045; denn du allein kennest das Herz3824 aller Kinder1121 der Menschen120;

40 auf6440 daß sie dich fürchten3372 allezeit, solange3117 sie auf dem Lande127 leben2416, das du unsern Vätern1 gegeben5414 hast.

41 Wenn auch ein Fremder5237, der nicht deines Volks5971 Israel3478 ist, kommt935 aus fernem7350 Lande776 um4616 deines Namens8034 willen

42 (denn sie werden hören8085 von deinem großen1419 Namen8034 und von deiner mächtigen2389 Hand3027 und von deinem ausgereckten5186 Arm2220), und kommt935, daß er bete6419 vor diesem Hause1004,

43 so wollest du hören8085 im Himmel8064, im Sitz4349 deiner Wohnung, und tun alles, darum der Fremde5237 dich3427 anruft, auf daß alle Völker5971 auf Erden776 deinen Namen8034 erkennen3045, daß sie1129 auch dich fürchten3372, wie3045 dein Volk5971 Israel3478, und daß sie7121 inne werden, wie dies Haus1004 nach deinem Namen8034 genannt7121 sei, das ich gebauet habe6213.

44 Wenn dein Volk5971 auszeucht in Streit4421 wider seine Feinde341 des Weges1870, den du sie1129 senden7971 wirst, und werden3318 beten6419 zum HErrn3068 gegen den Weg1870 zur Stadt5892, die du erwählet hast977, und zum Hause1004, das ich deinem Namen8034 gebauet habe,

45 so wollest du ihr Gebet8605 und6213 Flehen8467 hören8085 im Himmel8064 und Recht4941 schaffen.

46 Wenn sie5414 an dir sündigen2398 werden2398 (denn es ist kein Mensch120, der nicht sündiget), und7617 du erzürnest und gibst sie vor6440 ihren Feinden341, daß sie sie gefangen7617 führen in der Feinde341 Land776, fern7350 oder nahe7138,

47 und sie559 in ihr Herz3820 schlagen im Lande776, da7725 sie gefangen7617 sind7617, und bekehren sich7725 und flehen2603 dir im Lande776 ihres Gefängnisses und sprechen: Wir haben2398 gesündiget und missetan und sind gottlos gewesen7561;

48 und bekehren sich7725 also zu dir von ganzem Herzen3824 und von ganzer See LE5315 in ihrer Feinde341 Lande, die sie weggeführet haben7617, und beten6419 zu dir gegen den Weg1870 zu ihrem Lande, das776 du ihren Vätern1 gegeben5414 hast977, zur Stadt5892, die du erwählet hast1129, und zum Hause1004, das776 ich deinem Namen8034 gebauet habe:

49 so wollest du ihr3427 Gebet8605 und6213 Flehen8467 hören8085 im Himmel8064, vom Sitz4349 deiner Wohnung, und Recht4941 schaffen,

50 und deinem Volk5971 gnädig sein5545, das an dir gesündiget hat2398, und allen ihren Übertretungen, damit sie wider dich übertreten6588 haben6586, und Barmherzigkeit7356 geben5414 vor6440 denen, die sie gefangen7617 halten, und dich ihrer erbarmen7355.

51 Denn sie sind dein Volk5971 und dein Erbe5159, die du aus3318 Ägypten4714, aus8432 dem eisernen1270 Ofen3564, geführet hast;

52 daß deine Augen5869 offen seien auf6605 das Flehen8467 deines Knechts und5650 deines Volks5971 Israel3478, daß du8085 sie7121 hörest in allem, darum sie dich anrufen.

53 Denn du hast1696 sie5971 dir abgesondert914 zum Erbe5159 aus3318 allen Völkern auf Erden776, wie du geredet hast durch3027 Mose4872, deinen Knecht5650, da du unsere Väter1 aus Ägypten4714 führetest, HErr136, HErr3069!

54 Und da Salomo8010 all dies Gebet8605 und Flehen8467 hatte vor6440 dem HErrn3068 ausgebetet6419, stund er auf3615 von dem Altar4196 des HErrn3068 und ließ3766 ab von Knieen1290 und Händeausbreiten gen Himmel8064.

55 Und trat5975 dahin und segnete1288 die ganze Gemeine Israels3478 mit lauter1419 Stimme6963 und sprach559:

56 Gelobet sei1288 der HErr3068, der seinem Volk5971 Israel3478 Ruhe4496 gegeben5414 hat1696, wie er geredet hat1696! Es1697 ist nicht eins259 verfallen5307 aus allen seinen guten2896 Worten1697, die er geredet hat durch3027 seinen Knecht5650 Mose4872.

59 Und diese Worte1697, die ich vor6440 dem HErrn3068 geflehet habe2603, müssen nahe7138 kommen dem HErrn3068, unserm GOtt430, Tag3119 und Nacht3915, daß1697 er Recht4941 schaffe seinem Knecht5650 und seinem Volk5971 Israel3478, ein jegliches zu6213 seiner Zeit,

60 auf daß alle Völker5971 auf Erden776 erkennen3045, daß der HErr3068 GOtt430 ist, und keiner mehr.

61 Und euer Herz3824 sei rechtschaffen8003 mit dem HErrn3068, unserm GOtt430, zu wandeln3212 in seinen Sitten2706 und zu halten8104 seine Gebote4687, wie es heute3117 gehet.

62 Und2076 der König4428 samt dem ganzen Israel3478 opferten vor6440 dem HErrn3068 Opfer2077.

63 Und3967 Salomo8010 opferte2076 Dankopfer2077, die er dem HErrn3068 opferte2076, zweiundzwanzigtausend505 Ochsen1241 und hundertundzwanzigtausend Schafe6629. Also weiheten sie8147 das Haus1004 des HErrn3068 ein, der König4428 und alle Kinder1121 Israel3478.

64 Desselbigen Tages3117 weihete der König4428 den Mittelhof, der vor6440 dem Hause1004 des HErrn3068 war, damit, daß er Brandopfer5930, Speisopfer4503 und das Fett2459 der Dankopfer8002 daselbst ausrichtete. Denn der eherne5178 Altar4196, der vor6440 dem HErrn3068 stund, war zu8432 klein6996 zu6213 dem Brandopfer5930; Speisopfer4503 und zum Fetten2459 der Dankopfer8002.

65 Und Salomo8010 machte6213 zu der Zeit6256 ein Fest2282, und alles Israel3478 mit ihm, eine große1419 Versammlung6951, von der Grenze Hemaths an bis an den Bach5158 Ägyptens4714, vor6440 dem HErrn3068, unserm GOtt430, sieben7651 Tage3117 und aber sieben7651 Tage3117; das waren935 vierzehn Tage3117.

1 THEN Solomon assembled all the tribes of Israel, all the heads of the tribes, and the chiefs of the fathers, to him in Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.

2 And all the men of Israel assembled themselves to King Solomon at the feast in the month of the harvest, which is the seventh month.

3 And all the tribes of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD.

4 And they brought it up to the temple of the LORD, and brought the tabernacle of the congregation and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, and the priests and the Levites of Israel went up with them.

5 And King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel that were assembled to him were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen that could not be counted or numbered for multitude.

6 And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place, into the temple, to the inner house, the Holy of Holies, under the wings of the cherubim.

7 For the cherubim spread forth their wings over the holy place, and the cherubim covered the ark and its staves above.

8 And the staves were so long that the ends of them were seen from the holy place before the inner house, but they were not seen outside; and there they are to this day.

9 There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets of stone, which Moses had put there at Horeb when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel when they came out of the land of Egypt.

10 And when the priests came out of the holy place, a cloud filled the house of the LORD,

11 So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD.

12 Then Solomon said, O LORD, thou hast said that thou wouldst dwell in the thick darkness.

13 And I have surely built thee a house to dwell in, a settled place for thee to abide in for ever.

13 Ich habe zwar ein Haus1004 gebauet, dir zur Wohnung2073, einen Sitz4349, daß du ewiglich5769 da wohnest3427.

14 Then the king turned his face about and blessed all the congregation of Israel; and all the congregation of Israel stood;

15 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to David my father, and has with his hands fulfilled his promise, saying,

17 And it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.

18 But the LORD said to David my father, Whereas it was in your heart to build a house to my name, you did well that it was in your heart.

19 Nevertheless you shall not build the house to my name; but your son who shall come forth out of your loins, he shall build the house to my name.

20 Now the LORD has performed the word that he spoke, and I have risen up in the place of David my father and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built a house to the name of the LORD God of Israel.

21 And I have set there the ark of the covenant of the LORD, which he made with our fathers when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

21 Und habe7760 daselbst eine Stätte4725 zugerichtet der Lade727, darin der Bund1285 des HErrn3068 ist, den er gemacht3772 hat mit unsern Vätern1, da er sie aus3318 Ägyptenland776 führete.

22 And Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven and prayed;

22 Und Salomo8010 trat5975 vor6440 den Altar4196 des HErrn3068 gegen der ganzen Gemeine Israels3478 und breitete6566 seine Hände3709 aus gen Himmel8064.

23 And he said, O LORD God of Israel, there is no one like thee in heaven above or on earth beneath, who keepeth covenant and mercy with thy servants who walk before thee in truth with all their heart and with all their soul;

24 Who hast kept with thy servant David my father what thou didst promise him; thou didst speak with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thy hand, as it is this day.

25 Therefore, now, O LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father what thou didst promise him, saying, There shall not fail you a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; if only your sons take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth as you have walked before me.

26 And now, O LORD God of Israel, let thy word be confirmed, which thou hast sworn to thy servant David my father.

27 But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have built?

28 But turn toward the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken to the supplication and to the prayer which thy servant prays before thee this day;

29 That thine eyes may be open upon this house day and night, even toward this place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there; that thou mayest hearken to the prayer which thy servant prays before thee for this place.

30 And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant and of thy people Israel, when they pray before thee in this place; and hear thou, O our God, from thy dwelling place in heaven, and forgive.

31 If any man sins against his neighbor and an oath be laid upon him to cause him to swear and he comes and swears before thine altar in this house;

31 Wenn jemand wider seinen7453 Nächsten sündiget und nimmt des einen Eid423 auf5375 sich2398, damit er376 sich verpflichtet, und der Eid423 kommt935 vor6440 deinen Altar4196 in diesem Hause1004,

32 Then hear thou in heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, condemning the wicked, and bring his transgressions upon his head, and vindicating the righteous to reward him according to his innocence.

33 When thy people Israel are defeated in the battle before the enemy because they have sinned before thee, and shall turn again to thee and confess thy name and pray and make supplication to thee in this house;

33 Wenn dein Volk5971 Israel3478 vor6440 seinen Feinden341 geschlagen5062 wird2603, weil sie an dir gesündiget haben, und bekehren7725 sich2398 zu dir, und bekennen3034 deinen Namen8034 und beten6419 und flehen zu dir, in diesem Hause1004,

34 Then hear thou in heaven and forgive the sin of thy servants and of thy people Israel, and bring them back to the land which thou gavest to their fathers.

34 so wollest du hören im Himmel8064 und der Sünde2403 deines Volks5971 Israel3478 gnädig sein5545 und sie wiederbringen7725 ins Land127, das du ihren Vätern1 gegeben5414 hast8085.

35 When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against thee; and they shall come and pray in this place and confess thy name and turn from their sins, when thou dost afflict them;

35 Wenn der Himmel8064 verschlossen6113 wird, daß nicht3034 regnet4306, weil sie an dir gesündiget haben, und werden7725 beten6419 an diesem Ort4725 und deinen Namen8034 bekennen und sich2398 von ihren Sünden2403 bekehren, weil du sie drängest6031,

36 Then hear thou in heaven and forgive the sins of thy servants and of thy people Israel, when thou teach them the good way wherein they should walk, and give thy rain upon the land which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance.

37 And when there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence, blasting, mildew, locust, or when there are caterpillars; or when their enemy besieges them in one of their cities; whatsoever sickness, or whatsoever plague may be;

38 Whatsoever prayer and whatsoever supplication be made by any man or by all thy people Israel, who shall know every man the trouble of his own heart, and shall spread forth his hands before thee in this house;

39 Then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest (for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men);

40 That they may reverence thee all the days that they live on the face of the land which thou gavest to their fathers.

41 Moreover concerning a stranger who is not of thy people Israel, but comes from a far country for thy name's sake

41 Wenn auch ein Fremder5237, der nicht deines Volks5971 Israel3478 ist, kommt935 aus fernem7350 Lande776 um4616 deines Namens8034 willen

42 (When they shall hear of thy great name and of thy strong hand and of thy stretched out arm), when he shall come before thee and pray in this house;

42 (denn sie werden hören8085 von deinem großen1419 Namen8034 und von deiner mächtigen2389 Hand3027 und von deinem ausgereckten5186 Arm2220), und kommt935, daß er bete6419 vor diesem Hause1004,

43 Hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calls to thee for; that all the peoples of the earth may know thy name, to worship thee, as do thy people Israel; and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by thy name.

44 When thy people go out to battle against their enemies, by whatever way thou shalt send them, and shall pray to the LORD toward the city which thou hast chosen and toward the house that I have built for thy name;

44 Wenn dein Volk5971 auszeucht in Streit4421 wider seine Feinde341 des Weges1870, den du sie1129 senden7971 wirst, und werden3318 beten6419 zum HErrn3068 gegen den Weg1870 zur Stadt5892, die du erwählet hast977, und zum Hause1004, das ich deinem Namen8034 gebauet habe,

45 Then hear thou in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.

45 so wollest du ihr Gebet8605 und6213 Flehen8467 hören8085 im Himmel8064 und Recht4941 schaffen.

46 When they sin against thee (for there is no man who does not sin), and thou be angry with them and deliver them to the enemy so that they carry them away captives to the land of their enemies, far or near;

46 Wenn sie5414 an dir sündigen2398 werden2398 (denn es ist kein Mensch120, der nicht sündiget), und7617 du erzürnest und gibst sie vor6440 ihren Feinden341, daß sie sie gefangen7617 führen in der Feinde341 Land776, fern7350 oder nahe7138,

47 Yet if they shall reckon it in their heart in the land to which they have been carried captives, and repent and make supplication to thee in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness;

48 And so return to thee with all their heart and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies who carried them away captive, and pray to thee according to the religion of their own land, which thou gavest to their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen and the house which I have built for thy name;

49 Then hear thou in heaven, thy dwelling place, their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause,

50 And forgive thy people who have sinned against thee and all their transgressions wherein they have transgressed against thee, and give them compassion in the presence of those who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them;

51 For they are thy people and thine inheritance, whom thou didst bring forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron;

52 That thine eves may be open to the supplication of thy servants and to the supplication of thy people Israel, to hearken to them in all that they call for unto thee.

53 For thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou didst speak through Moses thy servant, when thou didst bring our fathers out of Egypt, O LORD God.

54 And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished praying all this prayer and supplication unto the LORD God, he arose from before the altar of the LORD, from kneeling with his hands spread up to heaven.

55 And he stood and blessed all the congregation of Israel with a loud voice, saying,
